This is a series, I completely forgot about but whilst on my meanderings on the web - I found this author's name and it all came back to me in an instant.
The premise:
A genetic experiment has created 3 (successful) children.
Their "parents" and also - creators - are killed.
Mulder's been keeping tabs on this company; due to information leaks he has been receiving about their "secret projects".
Scully, newly learning of her fertility status is in a stalemate about her own personal life. Mulder and Scully are at a crossroads personally - and she's struggling.
Falling in love with a bunch of orphaned genetic geniuses created in a test tube was probably not her ideal way of creating an instafamily but somehow, it happens and they both tumble in for the ride.
Beyond the title; I couldn't distinctly point out many features of the tale 'cept for: kids/genetic experiment/insta family/ UST turns RST/
I read part 1/4 (of The Genesis Project I) in about 4 hours (could have been less, I was super excited to have found another gem from my teens) - and I'm planning to savour it.
It's written in various points of view; each voice takes on moment in time- which so far, typically has not overlapped. It's kinda nice. So far the voices have been Scully's, Mulder's and Jaqueline (the eldest child ?17 yrs of age).
In part one:
M and S are hiding in a hotel room with 3 children. The eldest, is playing M against S; it reads like she has a little crush on M; and is more than a little jealous of S (what's not to covet, seriously ... I was so envious of S in my teens) - and she yearns for their freedoms.
Her comments interplay on their relationship which is teetering on the boundaries between friendship and something more.
Oddly the series isn't included in The Annex. But I found her site on the wayback machine!
