Christmas memories circa 2019
Dec. 19th, 2020 09:57 amWhen my preceptor in BU at MSH wore christmas lights (battery operated ones) and tinsel in her hair whilst performing a vaginal examination on a very very very anxious woman who clamped down on her hand despite all the mental imaging/reassurance/ calm room/quietness/breathing and preparation my preceptor washed over her during the exam.
She thought the woman had a mental block - some sort of trauma perhaps (although the woman denied it) and the husband said it was always an issue for her. Undiagnosed mild vaginismus perhaps? (the examination managed to occur.
Just the imagine of the midwife on the edge of the bed, covered in lights-- I put a lot of energy into not pissing myself laughing during the VE.
