Reading the descriptor: The story of a man, a woman and their lucky pickle. Season 4 cancer era. Rated NC-17.
I really had no idea where it was going.
The story weaves in and out of most of the episodes of season 4 - highlighting key scenes- and adds depth and breath to Scully's fight with cancer (which was mostly sorta ... not shown really). With realistic addition of MSR (how it would have been if they were together during that time).
In my heart of hearts, I really don't think they were [together] that season. It just seemed Scully guarded her illness too personally and I do think if he had actually started something [a relationship] that there would be a pity conversation and some anger at the very least. Syntax6 does it without those, and it still works.
Even when I think of s6 I don't think [canon MSR] started then either. But another of Syn's stories manages to weave that in also: Bait and Switch by Syntax6 is set s6
Both finished in 2 days.
Both marvelous reads.
I've spent so many hours speeding through fanfiction that I've pushed aside more important things... I really need to sleep...and do all that Christmas stuff...
