We are so past rolling.
The moment she could push herself up to sit was pretty much the moment she quit rolling to get places.
Then we had improvement in crawling until now she's a speed racer.
We're now on pull to stand. She's done it a few times at first, suddenly finding herself standing and not knowing what to do may burst into tears.
Now she randomly stands on occasion and sorta gets unbalanced and sits down either in a tidy or untidy fashion.
She loves to try and hold onto the back of the couch and sorta walk along it but she hasn't quite figured out walking, so she stands there and reaches left and right until she's tired and then sorta sits, then crawls all over the damn thing making me worried she's going to fall over the edge.
She's sorta mildly aware of edges but not enough to know that if she keeps going she will meet her detriment. I've tried to show her a few times (sorta let her keep going to the edge and gently held her while she "fell"). I don't know if she retained much of the understanding, though I've done it at least twice.
We went to the pools on Thursday with Jess.
Wendy's eyes were as big as dinner plates -- she'd never seen a public pool before.
Jess comfidently let her son sit on the wooden bench without holding him but I know my Wendy. She's much like a female rat - never sits still. Give her 2 seconds and she'll be figuring out what happens if she falls off the bench.
She didn't mind the chlorinated water but clung to me much more than Jess' boy Kian who is a month younger. He leant on his mother and let her show him how to kick his legs while Wendy wouldn't let me float her- in either direction (on her front or on her back).
She kept climbing me like a little wet rat (large wet rat, perhaps. We are at 8kg).
She did smile when I "jumped" with her in the water and let Jess hold her as we tried to cross a barrier.
I need to get us some more swim nappies so we can go again.
