I sat next to Carmen at training yesterday and she was trying to think of ways to spend her Sunday. Hubby's at golf for 5 hours and her daughters do their own thing now.
She thought of a second job and asked me about working in a hospital.
I said it's cruddy. They take forever to sort out your application/interview/whatever then once your in they probably don't just want you on Sundays - that's prime time due to less work more pay. And the pay isn't that good. RN's get alright but she wouldn't be going for RN position it would be porter or administration ...
I suggested she do tutoring in cantonese/mandarin. It's a skill and people will pay.
I also suggested she just enjoy her Sunday, go to the gym or something.
She has a piano at home, her daughters used to go to lessons. Carmen said: they enjoy playing they don't like practicing and I replied... aren't those two things the same?
I think back to when I played and i'm proud to say I do think I did achieve a level where when I practiced you couldn't tell if i was "playing" or "practicing" cause really, they're exactly the same thing. That they got to level 3 or so - and then it was very hard for her to tell them anything.
Carmen is a softie, I think.
If SJA was in a better position I'd spruke volunteering as an option but they make it so hard with so many hoops... i only stick around because I already jumped the hoops as a 20 year old.
Make me jump them again and I'll probably just quit.
It's nice to be involved with stuff outside the bubble of home.
