Long walks in Port Macquarie
May. 25th, 2021 08:49 pmI want to post some of the photos I took with my SLR.
I've designated Pete as trip organiser - so I've given a short list of things I want to do (op shopping in Warchope, the African violets nursery also in Warchope, the 5km park run on Saturday morning in Port Macquarie) and left the rest up to him and his mum to choose.
They started by eating breakfast together: Poridge with Golden Spirit and bananas. I had a wrap made with left overs from the fridge at Stanmore which I was rather concerned would be going off soon as some of the ingredients were well past their prime.
There's still one wrap left and I'll be russian rouletting with Salmonella tomorrow morning.
We had ice cream. I marveled at the prices being cheaper than Sydney (everything is cheaper than Sydney. It's really not hard to be cheaper than Sydney).
Then we walked a bunch of headlands:
South Head Rocks
where Pete's mum quizzed us further on the whole when are you having children scenario (seriously she just can't quit it can she. It's like she either thinks I'm pregnant already but I'm keeping it some giant secret or - I don't want kids and don't want to say - Or she thinks we're trying already and she wants us to tell her - Or some other issue I'm not sure about.
She's lined up babysitting options for us and talked us through my age being a prime factor as a main reason why we shouldn't wait longer as time is a ticking. And how old am I again? ...
lol. I'm just watching Pete play the silent game as she rambles on. When he brings up a very minor change in topic "there's a car coming up the path" she calls it "Deflecting off the topic".
Kinda, but there really is a car coming up the path.
We drive to the light house and walked to the top.
Culminating in a very difficult walk around a headland called "hat head" with some precarious drops there were amazing views and kangaroos that didn't mind us being there all over the place.
I took some photos I hope to print out and send overseas to my aunts and etc.
For dinner we went to Pete's old home town called "Kempsey" and an old diner in the town.
They had true blue dishes like turf and surf anddd steak and eggs!!!
I never saw such a thing on a menu. So I got the steak and eggs. and a Iced coffee that felt as large as 1L of milk and half a pint of ice cream all in one it came in 2 glasses.
We hadn't had lunch so I figured that more than made up for it.
We drove home in the dark where I chided Pete further on what we were going to do tomorrow.
Something about a tomato farm that makes Strawberry jam-- which you can purchase with scones. And then more walking.
I'm surprised with the amount of walking. In Sydney I can never get Pete to go on a hike and here he is choosing 10km days.
It's good for my Oxfam training at the least.
