A rostering error meant that I last minutely had to work today.

It also meant that I got extra hours to complete my book. I'm managing 1x postnatal assessment per shift. That doesn't seem like many considering I was told to aim for 3. But it also took another 1.5 hours to finally re-accredit for oral medications. Ward medications are much harder //than ICU ones// 13 people to keep differentiated and ensure no mistakes are made or that medications are not missed?? Challenging.

//In hindsight I found it odd that we were expected to basically finish the book in 6 -8 months and have only a few loose ends to tie up in the last 9-10 months and the last 2 months of the program, basically just... consolidate. It makes for a pretty stressful first 6 months. The first meeting with the CNE for the books didn't go very well. She expressed my numbers were too low and she gave me 2 weeks to catch up - and rescheduled the meeting basically. After that meeting, I wrote down every woman I laid eyes on into my book every shift, making it 6 - 10 women a shift. I caught up pretty quickly after that. In essence no one really cares if you really learnt anything: you just need to write it down in one of those boxes, and get your RM for the day to sign it. The end. //

Clinic starts next Wednesday and goes until 8pm. Who goes to appointments at 7:45pm? I guess I'll find out. Working mothers I assume.

Mist not let myself get into ward work too much that I let studies slide //This is difficult, we are classified as students but we are counted in the numbers. The ward props up its numbers with students -- not all of us have had ward experience -- some come from GP clinic or private practice or ICU -- meaning that some of us are terrible on a ward - We really shouldn't be counted.//
