Australian media portrayal of Trumps end

whitewriterWhen i went to bed at 2300: the abc have these cameras on the white house from a good distance. The white house looks quiet in the darkness and is lit magestially on the footage. For all i know it could be a stock image for lack of anything better to show.
Journalists announce what time he will depart.
What time that is in Australian eastern standard time. Which is midnight here. I think that correlates to 10am in Washington.
They explain about the helicopter he will depart in.
They explain the inauguration will be at noon and that Trump isn't going to it (sore looser isn't he....).
Makes me think about how M and S lived there and what its like to live and work in such a historical location especially during historical times.
At 0600 i wake up to the highlights. I guess expats might have stayed up all night. Theres lady Gaga singing the anthem and an abridged version of Biden's speech. Theres a live bubble in the corner as they show what's actually happening in DC (a trip to the cemetery with Obama, Clinton and Bush).
It looks cold. Everyone wrapped up in their suits.
Feels like a whole world away.
