Woah, news flash: whispers of x is a smutt/NC17 aka. porno fic archive *giggles* that I don't think I've ever come across before...
I’m sure I’ve read it before in my teens so reading it as an adult has been an eye opener (to say the least) having had a lot more life experience than I had then, and indeed, experience with men and just sex in general.
The plot is basically this: Mulder accidentally almost rapes Scully in her sleep, then convinces her they should start a friends with benefits relationship. Scully agrees but only if they have rules involved, so they hash up a bunch of terrible rules at the last minute and decide to embark on this friends with benefits thing. Then it gets horribly angsty when they both are in their own heads about how much they love the other - but is sure that the other person would know this, but clearly, as they don’t the other is super happy with just “friends with benefits” and that’s why they’re not moving it forward (which is a lie because they’re both horridly unhappy). This angst continues for a length period of time with S utilising one method of dealing with her thoughts and hopes (a therapist) with M utilising a journal (hey hey, just like me). Then there’s a long happily ever after ending to ensue also.
It’s barely more than a plotwhatplot. So its impressive she gets it to be as long as it is. It took me at least 3 days to read it fully around work commitments. People read their phones at work. I try fairly hard not to be one of them. I don't want to just scroll, I want to enjoy every moment, properly.
It’s cheesy smutt. It’s long as f and then some.
I love long fanfics. I remember I used to trudge through Gossamer looking for things nearing at least 90k in size files and above. If the author can carry something for some length of time, usually the quality is decent (that was my thinking back then). Also, the journey of immersing oneself in something nice and meaty is super enjoyable.
My favourite line:
“But he hadn't had it when they had entered
the apartment yesterday – she ought to know; she'd had her
hands all over him and was sure she would have noticed a
journal in his pants. “
Smirk.
So good.
