Weekly shift at SSH
Dec. 22nd, 2022 07:32 amAt the start of the shift I agreed to take on 4 women.
by the end of the shift I regretted not organising my time better.
4 is too many, I'm not that good yet. But it was a challenge.
I define my day by the 2 things I did not do:
1. I forgot to do the environmental assessment for the P4 that had her baby out of area, and then spent 30 mins trying to phone call her - to no avail. because she wouldn't pick up the phone or I had the wrong number.
Note to self, never discharge a woman without having the environmental assessment completed. Ever. This is the 2rd time I've done that - but the previous time I phoned the woman and did it over the phone and it was fine.
2. The daily CTG.
I tried to go in and do it - and she wasn't in her room. It was a half hearted attempt because it was 1500 and I was due to go home at 15:30
It should have been done during my tea break, I should have connected her, and then gone to tea and when I got back the trace would have been completed If I had put it in a really good spot and the baby cooperated (never know, could happen).
FML.
They had a Christmas party and being dairy free means I had to abstain from allllll the goodies essentially. I settled on some random Thai noodles that looked like something that would get chucked out tomorrow when no body would eat them (but I thought they'd be potentially really good, and not likely to have dairy in them and I wouldn't have to ask the maker either; some charcoal chicken (no dairy in chicken)- and a few pieces of sushi.
So all in all, there was something for everyone, even me.
No pavlova though.
I'll have to just have it on Sunday. The MIL has agreed to dairy free (for at least a portion) of the pav so. If I get a dairy free pav on Sunday I will be the happiest daughter-in-law.
