Review of Blood orange by Syntax6
Dec. 7th, 2020 08:43 amRe-reading fic by author is pretty fun.
Syntax6 seems to have a predilection for casefile involving personal violence.
Spit the lark - Rape
Blood oranges- cutting/suicide.
I had initially started Head over Heels but I got this distinct impression I was jumping into the middle of a series (like reading City of Lights prior to reading Secret World in the Goshen universe). Full of really awesome original characters -- I thought blood oranges might have preceded it -- I was wrong but I read it anyway.
Any description would be a spoiler, and I agree with the blurb:
The latest victim in a series of brutal murders has a very personal connection to Mulder, but it's Scully who has the connection to the killer. Their relationship might not survive either one.
Syntax6 attempts to explain Mulder's wedding ring in S6 Travelers, a detail of the show I actually remember!
It's back:
Score card:
Characterisation of canon characters: A
Characterisation of original characters: A
Smut: B (I could have skimmed past it and it would have been fine I think - I wanted it to go deeper but it didn't.)
Overall writing: A
