Family tales

when I was born, and my Grandma came from Indonesia she felt that she was of little help. Grandma was in her 60s and couldn't speak english but could speak Dutch. -- The next door neighbours - an elderly couple Rita and Joe - Rita offered my mum a stack of magazines for my grandmother to read, and my mum replied well, she doesn't speak English but she does speak Dutch.

Probably would have been more handy if my parents had migrated to Netherlands rather than Australia.

But this meant she couldn't go shopping. According to my mum, she also couldn't cook -- because, she said Gi2 Cecelia did all the "hard labour" for the family (thats my mums eldest sister) whilst my Grandmother just ... did not much else -- she'd have a side business baking cakes but without G2 Cecelia and my mum to help her, she wouldn't have gotten anywhere (as the story goes).

3 months later my cousin Shirley was born and Grandma went to live with my Aunt and her new baby and my mum said it was sorta better without her.

My grandma's key role in my care: to hold me.

No wonder I supposedly "never cried". What baby doesn't cry...

lies. Moe says her mother says the same thing about her (that she never cried). Uhuh.

I'm pretty sleep deprived. I know I have a post from last week to finish. It'll get done.
