In Order To Live by Yeonmi Park

A friend of mine passed me this book whilst she was decluttering what was already a bare apartment.

As I've been meaning to declutter my own shelf, I felt like I needed to at least attempt to read everything that I was going to "get rid of" before actually getting rid of it (I'm a hoarder).

Seriously couldn't put this book down for 7 hours.

I started reading it at 5am and I was done by about 12 noon.

Tears were shed.

For a girl that was so oppressed, she did not even know that oppression exists.

For a country so brainwashed, and controlled

She lived in a border town (so had more access than most) and parents who were progressive and entrepreneurial. Which was a large contributing factor to the family not being as "brain washed as others".

Then I listened to a podcast on spotify where she basically recaps the entire book.

Blew me away for at least the weekend.
